Willow Creek’s Catalyst Team Breakfast welcomed John Ortberg, senior pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church and former Willow teaching pastor, on Saturday, May 7. More than 1400 people participated in breakfast, worship, and a time of teaching from Ortberg.

Catalyst Team Director Paul Jansen van Rensburg introduced Cindy Blaski, the leader of High Road Riders, Willow Creek’s motorcycle ministry, who shared stories of people whose passion for riding motorcycles has led them to church—and to a relationship with Christ.

Making a Big Church Small
“Willow is putting effort into making a big church small by inviting attenders to develop community during the weekend services,” said Van Rensburg. Leaders oversee various sections of the Auditorium, welcoming people, inviting them to stay for coffee, and meet others. During one weekend service, one section of the Auditorium, dubbed Highway 308, is for the High Road Riders. “No one has to feel alone when they attend a big church,” says van Rensburg.

The Catalyst Team equips and inspires others in their efforts to reach people far from God. The next Catalyst Team Breakfast on June 11 will feature Chuck Colson, former White House Special Counsel during the Nixon Administration who served time in federal prison for his participation in the Watergate scandal. Today he leads Breakpoint Ministries. Register now.

Wayne Cordeiro Urges Christ Followers to Finish Life with No Regrets

Cemeteries are the richest places on earth, at least according to Pastor Wayne Cordeiro, senior pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu. “Too many people take their dreams to the graveyard,” he says. “Under the rectangular pieces of sod are songs yet unsung, books left unwritten, and masterpiece paintings that were never painted.”

For Christ followers, dreams can include reaching friends and family members with the message of Christ—dreams they don’t want to leave unfinished. But how often are there missed opportunities to speak with someone, extend an invitation, or get involved in a spiritual conversation?

At the July 24 at Willow Creek Community Church’s Catalyst Team Breakfast in South Barrington, Pastor Cordeiro offered insight and practical tools for living out God-given dreams, and helping others release theirs. Using Scripture, he revealed the fact that God has a unique purpose, or dream, for each person, and addressed the issues that get in the way of our motivation to live out our dreams.

More than 700 people attended the event.
